Fort Worth, Texas- Waterside.

Fort Worth is our second home. My husband was born and raised there and my in-laws still live there, we are both Texas Christian University Alumni, and so many of our very best friends still live there.  Needless to say, we spend a lot of time in Funky Town and we love it!

Recently, on the corner of Bryant Irvin and Arborlawn Drive along the Trinity River (the former Lockheed Martin Recreation Area) Waterside opened up and I absolutely love spending time with my family there when visiting Fort Worth. It’s way more than a shopping center, it’s packed full of fantastic restaurants, areas for the kiddos (and adults) to play, and all right next to Whole Foods to finish off a fun day with grocery shopping!

Because I love Waterside so very much, I recently teamed up with them and my kiddos and I pretended to be models for a day for their Mini-mag they did in 360 West Magazine. It was so much fun for them to follow us around and snap cute pics of us as we spent the afternoon there. Here is what our day looked like:

First things first, COFFEE. I love coming into Waterside for a cup of coffee at either Piattello’s or Wholefoods. I then usually sip my coffee while my kids run around and play in “The Grove”.

Probably my favorite thing about Waterside is what they call “the Grove”, a community green space designed with all ages in mind! Amenities include boccee ball and cornhole toss, a pavilion with lounge seating and TVs (that are perfect for Gamedays), a big chalk board for the kids to get creative, and lots of room for them to run around and play! While sipping coffee, my kiddos run around and get some energy out!

The Grove is also right next to Steel City Pops, so if it’s warm out we will enjoy a tasty popsicle in the sun. Carefully crafted in small batches, Steel City Pops are made with only natural ingredients for healthy, delicious treats. My whole family loves this place, and you can taste the creativity and love for good ingredients in every pop. My personal favorite is their coffee flavor! I love that you can taste little bits of the fresh coffee beans in it!

After hanging out in The Grove, I love grabbing lunch at one of the Restaurants in Waterside. There are plenty to choose from, but my favorite lunch spots are to either grab some tacos or a salad at Taco Diner, or hit up the salad bar at Whole Foods.

Which leads me to say, I love that I can Knock out my grocery shopping at Whole Foods while my kiddos get to enjoy some play time before! It’s just the best. It’s also kinda funny how much I love Whole Foods Market. My husband and I laugh because I was slightly disappointed when he didn’t propose to me at Whole Foods back in the day. I just love everything about it! Obviously, you can do your grocery shopping for all the best ingredients and products, but I love that there are so many different dining options within the store depending on what you’re in the mood for: delicious seafood or sushi, barbecue, salads, soups… I mean, you name it it’s there. Plus, pop open a beer or a glass of wine while you enjoy your dinner or shop if it’s after work! la-te-da!

With or without the kiddos, I love enjoying dinner at Piattello Italian Kitchen. Even though I try to stay on a healthy diet, pizza and pasta are my favorite foods to splurge on.. I mean, I am half italian and it’s just all about balance for me! They’ve got an incredible menu… crispy calamari, hot and bubbly pizza, tons of pastas, fantastic meatballs, and salads!! It’s a great spot for an early dinner with kiddos, or if we want to leave the kiddos behind with the in-laws, it’s a great date night alone with my hubby or with our Fort Worth friends!

So, needless to say, there are SO many fun things to do and enjoy with your family at Waterside. It’s a great spot for a food lover like me, which is why I love this new addition to Fort Worth SO very much!! Check out all of the stores, salons, and more that Waterside has to offer!
